These illustrations remind me of some Alphonse Mucha art windows we saw in Prague. Very stylish illustrations, with borders that show transformations. Simply beautiful.
The well-written story is a pleasure to read out loud - this book is a keeper.
This is a beautifully illustrated book with a very well layered approach when it comes to visual details. There is a very clear main subject, but detailed borders provide a lot to look at on repeat viewings. My 2 1/2 year old immediately wanted to read it again after the first reading. It is a simplified version of the story, which is what I think makes it so good for someone my son's age. Too often, these classic fairy tales are overly wordy and my son quickly loses interest. This one moves along at a brisk pace and tells a lot of the story through the expression on the princess's face, which at first is one of horror and at the end is one of pleasure about her little frog friend. The art nouveau style makes it feel like a book that might have been written and illustrated in 1912.
I would have loved to see this author do the same treatment on other Grimm's Fairy Tales.

I thought this version was really scary for young children. The illustrations are beautiful but then they start to get darker and darker. I think it's irresponsible to market such dark images to kids. Also, the story is weird. In the real Frog Prince she doesn't throw the frog against the wall and then he turns into the prince. That doesn't even make sense. Just weird. Wouldn't recommend at all.
Forget this book. I was so disappointed when I read this story. The princess doesn't kiss the frog to turn him into a prince; she throws the frog against the wall! What the heck is that! Not a story I want for my granddaughter
This does not have illustrations. It is just a one page story. Very disappointed I wasted my money.
This Frog Prince is one version of the Frog Prince I chose for my daughter's first-grade classroom. When children can see many versions of the same tale it adds to their understanding of story and character development. Plus, they have the enjoyment of hearing the story and seeing the many different illustrations. It encourages them to create their own stories and drawings. This is the classic take designed to be read aloud and enjoyed by all with the lovely illustrations.I loved it.
